Haahi is a small rural town, located about 70 kilometers west of Burao town and is approximately 120 kilometers south east of Hargeisa, the capital city of Somaliland. The ecological and livelihood system of Haahi can be classified as pastoral and agro-pastoral ecosystems which support domestic livestock production and subsistence rain fed agriculture production. In the rain fed agriculture system the main produce are cereal crops. Agricultural production in Haahi dates back to the 1920s. At the time a small number of religious groups (Dariiqo) came together and setup Koranic schools and agricultural activities along the downstream delta of Daldawan Dry River from Golis mountains in Haahi town.
