Message from the Executive Director Mr. Khalid Sahid Dirir

The wisdom behind the ADO’s existence is; to help citizens solve their problems with minimum support given by facilitating them understand approaches to achieving independent and sustainable economic developments. ADO aims to increase the productive and economic well-being of the people we work with and benefit our programs.

The ADO programmatic frameworks are beyond helping the poor through seeking funds to support the needy and vulnerable communities, but ADO program modalities are based on concrete philosophies and envisage producing an independent society living with pride and dignity; their livelihoods are protected and economically sustainable by capacitating them with life-time skills required, diversifying income sources and empowering women and girls using approaches responding to women’s economic empowerment needs while promoting gender equality.

The ADO’s mission is to assist people in adapting to climate change, protect the environment, conserve biodiversity, improve nutrition levels, agricultural productivity, and economic sustainability, change the quality of life of the people we work with, and ensure food security. Eradicate any form of Gender-Based Violence existing through dialogues and by creating a sense of co-living and mutual understanding among the different genders to create a safe environment where women and girls feel safe and live in peace.

Specialized in Agriculture, which is a multi-dimensional sector covering food production, environment and biodiversity, climate, water, human, gender, and economic aspects, ADO theorizes that Agriculture must meet the needs of present and future generations for its products and services while ensuring profitability, environmental health, and social and economic equity. Therefore, we base our programs on the Water-Energy-Food Nexus approach, a holistic vision of sustainability that recognizes and tries to balance the different goals, interests, and needs of people and the environment. The Nexus approach helps us better understand the complex and dynamic interrelationships between water, energy, and food to use and manage our limited resources sustainably. Our overall purpose is ADO to contribute to the Somaliland NDP II & III and SDGs.
